Everywhere you've been, kept private.
Byway records where you go on your iPhone and turns it into a timeline of places and trips — encrypted before it leaves your device, so nobody but you can read it.
A timeline that writes itself
Byway notices when you arrive somewhere and when you leave, and lays your day out as a list of stays and the travel between them. You don't check in, start a trip, or press record.
Places you name, trips you keep
Name the café you keep going back to and it's named forever. Byway groups the days you spent away from home into trips, so a week in Lisbon is one thing you can look back on rather than seven.
Years of your life, on one map
Every place you've been, drawn at once. Zoom out for the shape of a decade, zoom in for the street you walked down last Tuesday.
Yours to take with you
Export the whole archive as a file you own, whenever you want. No lock-in, no export queue, no waiting for an email.
We cannot read your location history.
Not as a policy — as a property of the system. Your timeline is encrypted on your device with a key we never hold, and the server only ever stores ciphertext it has no way to open. Even the place names you write are encrypted before they are sent.
